The success of Twilight brought about making money online schemes in the internet - reviews, custom merchandise in eBay, quotes and even hoaxes. I first learned about Takipsilim from an office gossip. Little did I know that this supposedly Philippine version of Twilight would cause such a ruckus, enough to get a reaction from the largest integrated media and entertainment company in the Philippines.
Here is what ABS-CBN has to say about Takipsilim:
“There is no truth to the Web reports, particularly in the Perez Hilton blogsite, that ABS-CBN is doing a local adaptation of “Twilight”. ABS-CBN will be the first to announce if it is, in fact doing so,” according to ABS-CBN Corporate Communications’ Bong Osorio.
Known Philippine movie icons were supposed cast Takipsilim, making this Philippine version of Twilight star-studded. Considering that Filipinos so love big names, Takipsilim would have been a top grosser. Would have been, because Takipsilim is just a hoax.

I don’t find any problems with a Philippine version of Twilight, as long as it has Stephanie Meyers permission. In fact, I am even curious as to how the director would pull this off. I have long since lost interest in watching Philippine movies. I guess one of the Philippine remakes or Philippine versions of big movies that I liked is Bangis, a Philippine version of Predator. Bangis stars Monsour del Rosario.
